A hub to eat, drink wine, see live music and discuss the festival’s films.
The Blackhearts Club will be the official bar for the 65th Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) and opens Friday July 29 at the Forum Theatre. For three wintery, film-filled weeks, the theatre will transform into a wine-and-food stop as well as a live piano bar.
Specialty wine shop Blackhears & Sparrows has collaborated with Yarra Valley winemakers to produce two wines especially for MIFF: a Caesar’s Garden Pinot Gris, in a nod to the theatre’s faux twinkling Mediterranean skies, and an Eberson’s Shiraz, in honour of the theatre’s architect John Eberson. They’ll be available for you to try at The Blackhearts Club, all MIFF 2016 venues, and Blackhearts & Sparrows stores for a limited time.
A wider range of drinks will also be on hand, including Genovese coffee, Mornington Peninsula Brewery craft beer, and the official MIFF cocktail, Grey Goose Le Grand Fizz.
Italian chain, D.O.C. Gastronomia Italia will be making convenient food packs you can either eat at the bar or take right into the cinema.
The gloriaou Steinway & Sons concert grand piano will be put to very good use throughout the festival dates. Look forward to daily cocktail hour around the piano, an array of eclectic live performances (to be announced shortly) and of course the annual RRR broadcast live from the bar.
The Blackhearts Club will be an immersive experience that will capture your imagination and give you a central, focused and social destination for all your MIFF needs and beyond. With exceptional eating and drinking options Blackhearts & Sparrows invites you to drink, eat, listen, discuss, argue and dissect your festival viewings to your heart’s content, in an evocative space that will reel you back in time and time again.
The Blackhearts Club will be open daily from Friday July 29 to Sunday August 14 and entry is free.
