Jon Hopkins is coming back to Australia with his live AV show. The return is stemmed from how amazingly successful Jon’s previous Australian shows were last year and he is coming back again due to fan demand.
Jon has been touring the US, Europe and the UK, recently played an amazing headline set at Glastonbury, and has been developing and enhancing the show.
Shaped by his experiences with meditation and trance states, the album flows seamlessly from rugged techno to transcendent choral music, from solo acoustic piano to psychedelic ambient. Its epic musical palette is visceral and emotionally honest: with a destructive opener full of industrial electronics and sonic claustrophobia and a redemptive, pure end on solo piano, this album reflects the psychological states Hopkins lived through during the writing process.
As Jon Hopkins’ music takes artistic turns, clearly playing with the norms of the electronic scene and pushing against convention, so does the vast backdrop. In line with the complimenting music videos for the single releases from Singularity, the stage is alight with cartoonish tales of exploration. It’s as vast and sprawling as the music itself, and just as enticing as the transportive tones.
Exploring the connectivity of the mind, sonics and the natural world, Singularity is intended to be listened to in one sitting, as a complete body of work.
